Position SummaryTampa Family Health Centers is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling financial accounts, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with financial reporting. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records while supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support monthly and year-end financial close processes.
- Maintain payroll accounting records and related documentation.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting records.
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Prepare productivity reports and variance analyses.
- Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
- Support the Finance Department with day-to-day accounting functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
