Family Office Controller, Hauppauge, Long Island, NY

Anna Parson, Robert Half is working with a growing Family Office is seeking a hands-on Family Office Controller to build out its accounting and financial reporting infrastructure. The Family Office Controller will be responsible for developing reporting packages, tracking all investments and providing financial oversight for a diversified investment portfolio that includes stocks, debt instruments, real estate holdings, construction projects, and alternative investments.

As the Family Office Controller you will:

  • Build out financial reporting, accounting processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for a diverse portfolio of investments across multiple entities and asset classes.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and develop dashboards to track investment performance, cash flow, capital activity, and returns.
  • Manage the monthly close process, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management activities.
  • Coordinate with investment managers, banks, auditors, attorneys, and tax advisors.
  • Support ownership with financial analysis, strategic planning, and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting and finance experience with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Prior experience within a Family Office, investment firm, real estate organization, private equity environment, or other multi-entity structure.
  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting, partnership accounting, and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated success building reporting functions, implementing controls, and improving financial processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and meaningful manner.
