SHADES of Development is a non-profit afterschool program that provides learning-based educational programming. We operate in 14 schools across Knox County. This position is for Site Director of the SHADES Afterschool Program atMill Creek Elementary School.
At SHADES of Development, the Site Director is the heart of each SHADES of Development program. The quality of care provided to the children at each center is determined by the Site Director. In order to maintain the highest quality program, the Site Director must be knowledgeable and demonstrate excellent communication, organization, and creative thinking skills. This posting outlines the key responsibilities of a Site Director; however, responsibilities are not limited to this list.

Our Beliefs
SHADES of Development believes that children learn and grow with every interaction they encounter during their waking hours of the day. Afterschool time is a time to enhance learning, promote relationship building, and exercise conflict resolution techniques in a relaxed, nurturing and fun environment. The SHADES Afterschool program bridges the school day and home life. SHADES further believes that it is essential to create an environment of mutual respect where adults and children can share, laugh, and learn together by setting goals, communicating, developing trust and holding ourselves and each other accountable.

Our first afterschool site was at Powell Elementary School established in 1995.Since then SHADES has grown to 14 afterschool locations.
