Position Summary
The Countertops Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, finishing, and preparing countertops and work surfaces used in ambulance interiors. This role requires attention to detail, strong fabrication skills, and the ability to work with specialized materials designed for durability, hygiene, and safety in emergency vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate ambulance countertops using materials such as solid surface, laminate, composites, and lightweight substrates
- Measure, cut, rout, shape, and finish countertop components per drawings and templates
- Apply laminates, edge banding, adhesives, and sealants
- Install sinks, cutouts, and integrated features as required
- Ensure finished countertops meet fit, finish, durability, and cleanliness standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, build sheets, and work instructions
- Inspect materials and finished products for defects
- Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S and safety standards
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Support rework, repairs, and continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of countertop fabrication, woodworking, or solid surface experience preferred
- Ability to read drawings and perform accurate measurements
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools (routers, saws, sanders, drills)
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in standing positions
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Experience
- Experience fabricating countertops for ambulances, RVs, marine, or commercial vehicles
- Familiarity with solid surface materials (Corian® or similar)
- Experience with lightweight, fire-retardant, and antimicrobial materials
- Knowledge of installation requirements for mobile environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment
- Exposure to noise, dust, adhesives, and machinery
Contingencies of Employment
- Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical examination
- Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, if applicable to the position
