SummaryWe are seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to join our client on-site in Norcross, GA. Focusing on the full lifecycle of industrial electrical and control systems, you will take ownership of everything from initial cabinet design to shop-floor assembly and final field commissioning. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, problem-solving builder who thrives on moving seamlessly between desk-based engineering and physical execution, preferring to see their designs come to life rather than spending months in theoretical analysis.
ResponsibilitiesArchitect comprehensive industrial electrical power and safety systems, encompassing ranges from 24 VDC to 480 VAC, including STO/SS1 and E-stops.
Design, physically assemble, and troubleshoot advanced control cabinets integrating servo drives, HMIs, and heavy-duty welding power supplies.
Commission multi-axis motion hardware, servos, and steppers, seamlessly integrating them with complex mechanical systems and industrial robotics.
Develop and maintain Structured Text for PLC-based machine functions while building custom Python tools for system diagnostics.
Support advanced software and robotics integrations, including ROS/ROS2, to optimize machine intelligence and functionality.
Design multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) for sensor interfaces and motor electronics, actively mitigating EMC/EMI issues.
Troubleshoot live, energized industrial equipment on the shop floor and at customer sites to guarantee superior weld quality and operational uptime.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
Years of Experience: 5+ years of proven electrical design, assembly, and troubleshooting experience within an industrial or automation setting.
Industry Experience: Strong background in custom automated machinery, industrial motion control, or advanced manufacturing environments.
Technical Skills: Deep expertise in industrial electrical system design, control cabinet layout, PLC programming (Structured Text), and hands-on mechanical/electrical assembly.
Additional Technologies: Practical familiarity with Python, ROS/ROS2, multilayer PCB design, and EMC/EMI mitigation.
Work Style: Action-oriented and hands-on; perfectly comfortable bridging the gap between high-level engineering design and physical shop-floor repairs.
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 40%50% domestically during the initial phase for customer support, machine commissioning, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Note: Travel expectations will decrease as the engineering department scales.
