Job Description

This short-term role supports a facility move by performing general production and warehouse tasks, including packing, loading, and cleaning. You will work on a small, close-knit team to pack boxes, load trucks by hand, and help maintain a clean and organized work area during the relocation to a new site in Elgin.

Responsibilities

  • Pack boxes accurately and efficiently to support the facility move to the new location in Elgin.
  • Load trucks by hand with packed boxes and materials, ensuring items are secure and handled safely.
  • Perform general labor tasks in a warehouse and production environment as assigned.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly when needed for packing, assembly, or related tasks.
  • Assist with basic mechanical and production-related activities as directed.
  • Support cleaning activities, including sweeping and general housekeeping, to keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow written and verbal directions carefully to complete tasks correctly and on time.
  • Handle materials and products in a safe manner, including lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs.
  • Operate or assist with warehouse equipment, such as sit-down forklifts, if trained and authorized.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to ensure efficient workflow during the move.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately and consistently.
  • Experience performing general labor or warehouse duties.
  • Comfort working in a production environment with physical tasks such as packing, loading, and cleaning.
  • Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Reliability and punctuality for a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in assembly or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience in warehouse operations or general production work.
  • Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, or basic electrical assembly and wiring.
  • Experience using sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Comfort working with basic mechanical and production processes.
  • Interest in growing with a small, expanding organization and contributing to a new facility.

Work Environment

This role is based in a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work takes place in a warehouse and production facility that has recently been prepared for incoming trucks and operations. The environment is small and close-knit, with a current on-site team of only a few employees and a total of around 18 employees across multiple locations nationwide. You will work in a hands-on setting that involves physical tasks such as lifting, loading, sweeping, and general cleaning. The facility uses common warehouse and production tools and equipment, including hand and power tools and sit-down forklifts, and expects employees to maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace appropriate for industrial and warehouse operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Batavia, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
