Machine Operator

Job Description

This role operates CNC machines in a modern, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, performing setup, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting to ensure high-quality production. The machine operator supports the CNC machining center by handling raw materials and finished parts, conducting routine inspections, and maintaining equipment in safe and reliable working condition.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently in a production environment.
• Perform machine setup, including loading programs, setting tools, and preparing fixtures according to work instructions.
• Monitor CNC machines during operation and perform basic troubleshooting to maintain consistent production quality.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished parts into and out of CNC machines.
• Change and adjust machine tools as needed to meet production specifications and part requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on CNC machines and promptly report any mechanical issues or irregularities.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
• Interpret and work from technical blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts meet exact specifications and tolerances.
• Use hand and power tools safely to support production activities and equipment adjustments.
• Support general production tasks around the CNC machining center, including material handling, part staging, and basic assembly as needed.
• Perform quality checks of machined parts using hand measuring tools and document results as required.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Lift, carry, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading parts.
• Stand for extended periods while operating equipment and performing production duties.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating CNC machines or similar production equipment in a manufacturing environment (any level of experience considered).
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively in a production setting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and work instructions.
• Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on CNC machines to resolve common production issues.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and reliable job tenure.
• Ability to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time during shifts.
• Attention to detail and commitment to performing accurate quality checks on machined parts.
• Willingness to support both general production tasks and CNC machine operation as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Familiarity with CNC machining centers and related production processes.
• Comfort working with precision measuring instruments for in-process and final inspections.
• Strong character and dependable attendance.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Willingness to work various shifts as required by production needs.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and safety. The environment includes CNC machining centers and the use of hand and power tools, along with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures. Candidates must be open to all shifts, which may include 1st shift (Monday–Wednesday, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.), overnight shift (Monday–Wednesday, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.), weekend 1st shift (Thursday–Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.), and weekend overnight shift (Thursday–Saturday, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). The facility maintains a very clean and safe working environment, with a structured production setting and consistent processes designed to support both quality and safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ellabell, GA.

The pay range for this position is $21.75 - $23.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
