Associate Attorney (Insurance Defense Litigation) 5+ Years Experience

Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney LLP (HCC), one of New England's premier litigation firms, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Providence, Rhode Island office. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, and be licensed to practice law in Rhode Island.

Our attorneys handle sophisticated litigation matters across a broad range of practice areas, including product liability, premises liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, construction, transportation, employment law, and workers' compensation defense.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of civil litigation, including:

• Conducting and defending depositions
• Drafting and arguing motions
• Performing legal research and analysis
• Attending court conferences and hearings
• Managing client communications and counseling
• Participating in settlement negotiations and mediations
• Preparing cases for trial and participating in trial proceedings

This position offers the opportunity to assume significant responsibility and work directly with clients, insurers, and experienced litigators on complex matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active admission to the Rhode Island Bar (required)
• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience
• Insurance defense experience strongly preferred
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Strong oral advocacy and communication abilities
• Proven case management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Massachusetts and/or Connecticut Bar admission is a plus
