General Service Technician / Mechanic – Texas Emissions Inspector

Northrich Automotive has served Richardson and the surrounding Dallas–Fort Worth community for nearly 30 years. We are looking for a dependable General Service Technician with a current Texas emissions-inspector license to support our growing team.

This is more than an oil-change position. You will help complete our structured Rack Attack inspection process, perform preventive maintenance and light repairs, and make sure every customer receives clear, properly documented information about their vehicle.

What You’ll Do

• Perform oil changes and scheduled maintenance
• Complete tire repairs, rotations, balancing, and replacement
• Inspect brakes and perform light brake service
• Replace basic steering and suspension components
• Complete fluid services and preventive maintenance
• Perform required Texas vehicle emissions inspections
• Conduct complete digital vehicle inspections
• Inspect tires, brakes, fluids, belts, hoses, filters, lights, wipers, leaks, steering, and suspension
• Take clear photographs and enter accurate inspection notes
• Separate immediate safety concerns from maintenance and future repair needs
• Promptly communicate findings to the service advisor
• Ask a senior technician for assistance when additional diagnosis is required
• Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently
• Protect customer vehicles and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Work professionally with advisors, technicians, and shop leadership

Rack Attack Responsibilities

Northrich Automotive’s Rack Attack process is designed to give customers an accurate understanding of their vehicle’s condition.

You will be responsible for:

• Following the established inspection checklist without skipping steps
• Identifying visible safety concerns and needed maintenance
• Documenting the vehicle’s actual condition honestly
• Providing complete photographs and notes
• Reporting findings to the service advisor in a timely manner
• Helping ensure no obvious maintenance or safety concern is overlooked

The technician identifies and documents the vehicle’s condition. The service advisor reviews those findings with the customer and obtains authorization for additional work.

What We’re Looking For

• Current Texas vehicle emissions-inspector license
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Previous automotive service experience
• Ability to perform accurate, complete vehicle inspections
• Comfortable using tablets and digital inspection software
• Basic mechanical and under-car repair ability
• Strong attention to detail
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Ability to follow established processes and checklists
• Professional, team-oriented attitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the workday

Compensation

• $18.00–$25.00 per hour
• Performance-based bonuses

Schedule

Northrich Automotive currently operates Monday through Friday. As the shop grows, future Saturday flexibility may be required.
