Objective:

This position is responsible for working closely with the Shipping & Receiving, Production and Forklift Drivers to coordinate daily pickups and deliveries of goods in an efficient and timely manner. The role supports warehouse operations by performing cycle counts and daily warehouse functions as assigned to help maintain inventory accuracy and efficient workflow. This position is expected to represent Trendler in a professional, respectful, helpful, and supportive manner. When needed, the position also assists with receiving by reviewing packing lists for received goods, attaching them to the appropriate purchase orders, and distributing documentation to department leads.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving Compliance

  • Inspect incoming manufacturing materials, freight, and parts for damage, correct counts, and proper identification before signing bills of lading.
  • Review pick sheets, bills of lading, and packing slips to confirm that outgoing paperwork matches physical customer orders.
  • Process incoming and outgoing inventory within the company's system, update required modules, and print part/quantity labels before stocking.
  • Verify that an approved purchase order and proper release exist prior to accepting or unloading any vendor or customer freight.

Warehouse Operations & Order Staging

  • Operate material-handling equipment safely, efficiently, and consistently, maintaining annual recertifications in equipment use and dock safety.
  • Inspect skids to ensure products are properly wrapped, banded, and secured for safe transit.
  • Stage customer orders together in designated shipping locations and proactively pull products to meet strict manufacturing and shipping deadlines.
  • Perform cycle counts and maintain organized, efficient inventory storage areas.

Truck Loading & Dock Safety

  • Oversee manufacturing dock operations to ensure truck loads are tight, efficient, balanced, and within legal weight limits.
  • Confirm that rear wheels are choked and dock plates are properly aligned with truck beds prior to loading or unloading.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in and around all loading docks and working areas

Commercial Driving & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Transport finished goods and raw materials safely to client locations across the Chicagoland area and suburbs, documenting all deliveries and pickups.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on delivery trucks and material-handling equipment, keeping maintenance logs and vehicle records current.
  • Immediately report any vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, traffic citations, property damage, or personal driving restrictions to management and Human Resources.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Education & Licensing: High school diploma (or equivalent) and a valid Class B Driver’s License required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of box truck driving experience navigating the Chicagoland area and suburbs.
  • Skills: Basic math skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a strong plus.
  • Interpersonal & Problem-Solving: Cooperative, proactive "can-do" attitude with strong attention to detail. Ability to handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while keeping customer and company interests in mind.
  • Physical Demands: High-paced manufacturing environment requiring good speaking, hearing, vision, and manual dexterity. Must be able to walk, stand, climb stairs, and frequently lift up to 40–50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques. Must pass a pre-employment physical evaluation and pre-drug screen.
  • Working Conditions: Performed in an active manufacturing facility and outdoors across all seasonal weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, or snow). Exposure to industrial noise, dust, grease, fumes, sparks, and temperature variations.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety steel-toe shoes are required at all times within the manufacturing facility, with occasional use of safety glasses, gloves, and as required by safety protocols.
  • Schedule: Flexibility is required to meet manufacturing demands, which may occasionally include extended hours, shift changes, or weekend shifts.
