Body Shop System Manufacturing Engineer

Description

In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program – from initial concept through final assembly. This will involve the application of lean manufacturing principles to ensure the highest quality, most efficient processes and products possible. You will:

•Upfront Program Engineering

oDrive lessons learned into new product

oEnsure GMRs and best practices are followed

oEnsure product design is robust for manufacturing

oEnsure LD commonality is followed / Drive LD discipline

oDrive SRI feasibility; Support structures process

oSupport clay feasibility

oSupport product virtual builds

oEnsure P-release quality of event

oEnsure checking fixture/PCF/CMM fixture strategy support program deliverables

oEnsure plant CMM/layout room will support program deliverables

oEnsure measurement plan is robust

•DCV & PCF Builds:

oDevelop pre-launch control plan

oEnsure production intent locators for DCV

oLead resolution of manufacturing AIMS issues

oUtilize DVC to prove out measurement programs, handheld data and WBDM templates

oEnsure closure systems studies are completed

oLead PCF process Develop build plan Ensure parts are ordered Ensure PCF fixture meet timing needs Lead execution of PCF1 build

oEnsure supplier gages are correct; Drive part review and die buyoffs

•Launch:

oLead launch control plan

oEnsure all assembly plant metrology is ready to support launch control plan

oEnsure assembly plant fixtures support control plan

oEnsure metrology programs are ready

oEnsure handheld data devices are ready

oEnsure WBDM/Templates support launch needs

oLead PCF2/PCF3 build events at plant

oResponsible for overall Bodyshop capability

oBuild event dimension summary

oEnsure stamped parts are acceptable for product build events and drive towards PSW

oDrive sheet metal system issue resolution

oDrive closing effort proves out; Drive OK to Buy dimensional and functional issues to resolution.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

•Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related fields.

•Min of 2-3 Years of Experience in Manufacturing

•Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)

•Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.

•2 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

•40-50% travel required, but it is all local travel to Plants in Metro Detroit (zero long term travel as it is supporting Michigan Assembly Plant and local suppliers within SE Mi.)

Preferred Requirements:

•Experience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environment.

•Excellent communication and presentation skills

•Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
