Position Overview

We are seeking two experienced Mammography Technologists to join a hospital-based imaging team in St. Marys, Georgia.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mammography Technologist looking for a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights or weekends, a manageable patient volume, and a supportive, lower-stress hospital environment.

The 8:00 AM–4:30 PM shift is the highest-priority opening, with an additional 7:30 AM–4:00 PM position available. Candidates should be flexible with scheduling when needed to support departmental operations.

This is a hospital-based position rather than an outpatient imaging center. The department performs both screening and diagnostic mammography, with images interpreted by remote radiologists. The technologist will also assist with DEXA/bone-density examinations.

Because the department needs someone who can contribute immediately, candidates must have at least one year of mammography experience. This position is not intended for cross-training into mammography.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to established protocols and physician orders
  • Perform DEXA/bone-density examinations as assigned
  • Review imaging orders, patient histories, anatomy, and clinical indications before performing examinations
  • Properly position patients and obtain diagnostic-quality images while minimizing repeat exposures
  • Explain procedures clearly and maintain patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout the examination
  • Obtain and document accurate patient histories and required safety information
  • Identify discrepancies or concerns with imaging orders and communicate with ordering providers or radiologists as appropriate
  • Perform and document required mammography quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Follow established radiation-safety, patient-privacy, HIPAA, and departmental standards
  • Safely operate mammography, DEXA, positioning, and related imaging equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record and imaging systems
  • Coordinate patient flow and communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Identify and report equipment issues to department leadership to minimize downtime
  • Maintain required competencies, continuing education, and regulatory requirements
  • Remain flexible with scheduling based on departmental and patient-care needs

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist
  • ARRT Mammography certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of one year of mammography experience
  • Ability to independently perform mammography procedures with minimal training or supervision
  • Strong patient-care, communication, positioning, and image-quality skills
  • Flexibility to support departmental scheduling needs

Preferred

  • Experience performing both screening and diagnostic mammography
  • Experience with DEXA/bone-density scanning
  • Experience performing mammography QA/QC
  • Previous hospital-based imaging experience
  • Experience with Cerner and Centricity
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively within a small imaging department
