Inside Sales Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Inside Sales Engineer to join our team in Clearwater, FL. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys combining engineering knowledge with customer service and sales. The Inside Sales Engineer will provide application support, prepare technical quotations, assist customers with product selection, and help drive business growth by building strong relationships with distributors, OEMs, and end users.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical sales resource for assigned customer accounts.
- Assist customers with product selection, application guidance, and technical recommendations.
- Analyze customer requirements, including motor horsepower, voltage, load type, duty cycle, and environmental conditions to recommend appropriate solutions.
- Prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations for standard, modified, and custom products.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and technical inquiries by phone and email.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support and coordinate with engineering on complex applications.
- Manage and grow relationships with distributors, OEMs, and direct customer accounts.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within industrial and manufacturing markets.
- Partner with outside sales representatives to develop account strategies and support customer visits.
- Follow up on leads generated through marketing campaigns, referrals, and trade shows.
- Build strong relationships with engineers, purchasing teams, and key decision-makers.
- Track quotations, sales opportunities, and customer activity within the CRM system.
- Maintain knowledge of industrial electrical products and industry trends to better support customers.
- Assist with product feedback and market insights to support future product development.
- Conduct technical presentations and product training for customers and distribution partners when needed.
- Process customer orders from quotation through shipment while coordinating with production and shipping teams.
- Communicate order status, lead times, and project updates to customers.
- Maintain accurate records within the CRM and ERP systems.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in inside sales, application engineering, or technical sales support within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of AC motor control principles, reduced voltage starting, soft starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and motor protection.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and motor nameplate data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience using CRM and ERP systems.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience supporting industrial electrical equipment, automation, or power electronics.
- Experience working with distributors, OEMs, system integrators, or manufacturer's representatives.
- Familiarity with applications in HVAC, water and wastewater, oil and gas, mining, agriculture, or industrial automation.
- Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, NEC, UL, or other applicable industry standards.
- Experience using product configuration or application engineering software.
Pay
$34.00–$40.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Environment
- On-site position located in Clearwater, FL.
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Fast-paced office environment with frequent interaction by phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- Occasional travel to customer sites, distributor locations, or trade shows may be required (approximately 10–15%).
