Job Title: CNC Programmer and Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating Haas CNC milling machinery to produce high-quality custom parts and prototypes, primarily in a plastics and injection molding environment. You will work with SolidWorks and Mastercam to create and optimize programs, perform changeovers, and ensure that every part meets strict quality and inspection standards.

Responsibilities

• Program Haas CNC milling machines to produce custom parts and pieces according to specifications.
• Set up and operate Haas CNC machinery for production runs, ensuring accurate and efficient operation.
• Complete changeovers from one part to another, verify the first-off piece, and adjust parameters to maintain consistent quality.
• Layout and prepare all materials required to set up machines for production runs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and part information to determine machining requirements.
• Utilize SolidWorks 2026 and/or Mastercam 2020 to create, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
• Use manual machinery and tools to assist with minor die work, adjustments, and support tasks as needed.
• Perform troubleshooting on CNC equipment and related systems to resolve issues that affect production or quality.
• Support preventive maintenance activities on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
• Apply basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems when assisting with maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Assist with inspection and quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians and other team members on issues involving plastics processing, HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting as they relate to production.
• Follow established safety, quality, and cleanliness standards while working in both the production floor and clean room areas.

Essential Skills

• Experience programming CNC milling machines, either offline or online, using any CNC programming software.
• Hands-on experience with CNC milling programming and operation.
• Ability to program, set up, and operate CNC machinery with a focus on milling applications.
• Comfort working with Haas brand CNC machinery or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and part specifications.
• Competence using SolidWorks 2026 and/or Mastercam 2020 for CNC programming.
• Experience supporting both programming and operating responsibilities for CNC machinery.
• Strong understanding of machining processes for plastics and prototype work.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues on CNC equipment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple production runs while maintaining accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Approximately 5 years of experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines is preferred.
• Experience programming with SolidWorks and/or Mastercam software.
• Experience in plastics machining, prototype work, or injection molding environments.
• Familiarity with manual machining equipment for minor die work and adjustments.
• Exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Experience in inspection and quality processes within a manufacturing setting.
• Understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting in support of production operations.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a clean injection molding facility that includes both a medical clean room area and an automotive production area. The quality department is maintained to high cleanliness standards, and you will occasionally walk the production floor as part of your duties. The role is on a first shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work pattern. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and organization, with modern CNC and support equipment used throughout the facility.

This is a Permanent position based out of Elgin, IL.

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
