PALS Goleta is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in our Adult Day Program.
In this role, you will provide person-centered support to adults with intellectual, developmental, behavioral, and/or trauma-related disabilities, helping them build independence, confidence, and everyday skills. Through community-based activities and meaningful experiences, you will encourage personal growth, social connection, and overall well-being. This position is ideal for someone who is patient, team-oriented, and passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with one or more program participants (up to three at a time)
- Transport participants to and from the program and community activities using a personal vehicle or PALS vehicle.
- Assist individuals with daily living skills, personal care, communication, and social interaction
- Encourage independence by allowing participants to complete tasks on their own whenever possible
- Facilitate community-based activities and recreational opportunities
- Utilize person-centered approaches
- Submit required documentation in a timely manner
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and required training
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum one year of work experience
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Patient, compassionate, and committed to person-centered care
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and clean driving record
- Valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance
- Must pass a background check, TB clearance, drug screening, and physical examination
- Ability to lift, move, and assist individuals as needed.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centered care.
