Material Handler

About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that materials are efficiently moved, stored, and prepared for production. This position is responsible for maintaining the flow of materials throughout the warehouse and assembly line, which directly impacts production timelines and overall operational efficiency. The Material Handler will utilize various equipment and systems to manage inventory, process orders, and facilitate shipping and receiving activities. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to minimize errors and ensure a safe working environment. Ultimately, the success of the manufacturing operations relies heavily on the effective performance of the Material Handler. This person will work in the paint department and will be required to attend to other duties when material does not need to be moved.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in material handling or warehouse operations (Fork Truck - Stand Up).
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with warehouse management systems and barcoding technology.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Certification in operating material handling equipment (Fork Truck - Stand Up).

Responsibilities:

• Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks to move materials within the warehouse.
• Pick and pack orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring that all items are prepared for shipping.
• Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damage, and accurately record inventory into the warehouse management system.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards and protocols at all times.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and address any material handling issues.

Skills:

The required skills for this position, such as proficiency in material handling equipment, are essential for the daily movement of goods within the warehouse. Order picking skills ensure that the right products are selected and prepared for shipment, which is critical for customer satisfaction. Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes allows the Material Handler to efficiently manage incoming and outgoing materials, contributing to the overall productivity of the manufacturing operation.
