Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support a non-profit organization in Princeton, New Jersey through a Contract assignment. This role will serve as a trusted resource for managers and employees, offering practical guidance on employee relations, policy interpretation, and day-to-day HR matters. The position also contributes to a fair, compliant, and people-focused workplace by partnering across HR functions and helping strengthen core programs and processes.
Responsibilities:
•Serve as a primary HR contact for managers and staff by providing clear direction on workplace policies, procedures, and employment-related questions.
•Lead employee relations reviews and workplace investigations with professionalism, sound judgment, and appropriate follow-through on recommended actions.
•Support leaders with performance management discussions, corrective action steps, and disciplinary processes in alignment with organizational standards and applicable labor agreements.
•Mediate workplace concerns and help resolve employee conflicts in a manner that promotes consistency, fairness, and respectful treatment.
•Monitor HR practices for compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements and identify actions that reduce organizational risk.
•Work closely with learning and development partners to help create and deliver training programs that address team and workforce needs.
•Collaborate with colleagues in benefits, compensation, accommodations, talent acquisition, and related HR areas to provide coordinated employee support.
•Assist with the design, rollout, and refinement of HR programs, tools, and communications tied to engagement, performance, and employee experience.
•Handle HR transactions and support employee lifecycle activities, including administrative processes and documentation as needed.
•Contribute to broader HR initiatives by participating in committees, projects, and cross-functional efforts across the organization.•Proven experience in employee relations and HR generalist work within a complex organizational environment.
•Strong knowledge of HR administration practices, including employee lifecycle support and policy application.
•Hands-on experience using HRIS platforms and maintaining accurate HR records and transactions.
•Ability to conduct impartial workplace investigations and manage sensitive matters with confidentiality and discretion.
•Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and their practical application.
•Demonstrated skill in advising managers on performance issues, conflict resolution, and corrective action processes.
•Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across HR and business teams.
