Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for the production and inspection of work orders assigned, primarily focusing on the operation, housekeeping, and other functional attributes of the Fin Tube milling centers. This role involves creating products for quality review, preparing and reviewing material scans for production start, conducting quality checks during production, and operating the Overhead crane as needed. A strong focus on quality, troubleshooting tools, and identifying defects in tubes during production is essential. Adherence to all safety and environmental guidelines is required.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate Fin Tube machines, understanding tube types, material dimensions, and identifying defects to achieve precise tolerances and finishing requirements.
  • Inspect in-process material according to work instructions and report any material not meeting criteria for proper disposition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace, ensuring all PPE, equipment safeguarding, and protective devices are functioning according to EHS safety standards.
  • Record quality data, scrap counts, and material usage using WFS to ensure accurate inventory and product movements.
  • Perform quality checks, load/unload machines, and consistently lift 40-50 lbs.
  • Ensure all duties and responsibilities are unique to the facility, with training provided.

Essential Skills

  • 6+ months of manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding measurement math related to decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to stand all day and lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Machine operating experience and CNC experience are a plus.
  • Knowledge of machine function and interface, including HMI input/output, calibration methods, programming, and computer input for production/order operations.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Environment

Work in a very clean metals manufacturing environment with 33 pieces of equipment and multiple operational processes. Available shifts include 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday, 3pm-11pm), 3rd Shift (Monday-Friday, 11pm-7am), and hybrid shifts, offering flexibility and shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
