Job Description
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting activity, and helping ensure a smooth monthly close process. The ideal candidate brings strong accounts receivable experience, sound reconciliation skills, and the ability to stay organized while balancing competing deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day receivables activity by preparing invoices, applying payments, monitoring collections, and keeping customer accounts accurate and up to date.
• Contribute to the monthly close by recording journal entries, tracking accruals, and reviewing account activity for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile balance sheet and other assigned accounts on a regular basis to support reliable financial reporting.
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances promptly to resolve outstanding issues.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy by ensuring financial transactions are coded and posted correctly.
• Analyze aging reports and partner with internal teams to address overdue balances and receivable exceptions.
• Prepare supporting documentation for audits and keep accounting records well organized for easy review.
• Assist with financial reporting requests, special accounting assignments, and efforts to strengthen internal controls and process efficiency.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including time in a staff accountant or closely related role.
• Hands-on experience with accounts receivable processes such as invoicing, cash application, collections, and account maintenance.
• Proven ability to support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis.
• Proficiency with Sage 100 and confidence working across accounting systems.
• Experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Strong Excel skills and overall technical ability in financial systems and reporting tools.
• Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage deadlines independently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
