The Carriage House Collection Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests visiting Carriage House Collection at Oglebay. This position provides exceptional customer service while assisting guests with merchandise. The Carriage House Collection Attendant helps maintain an attractive, clean, and well-stocked shop while ensuring accurate transactions and positive guest experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Welcome and engage guests in a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist guests with selecting merchandise.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit card, and other approved payment methods.
  • Process sales, exchanges, and returns according to Oglebay Resort policies.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and follow all register and cash-control procedures.
  • Stock, replenish, and rotate retail products.
  • Keep shelves, displays, counters, and the overall shop clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, checking, tagging, and putting away merchandise.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout the shift.
  • Provide knowledgeable information about products, resort amenities, and local offerings when appropriate.
  • Promote resort activities, special events, and other guest experiences when opportunities arise.
  • Handle guest questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, involving management when necessary.
  • Help maintain a positive, energetic atmosphere that reflects the Carriage House Collection brand and Oglebay guest experience.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Assist with seasonal merchandise changes and special events when requested by management.
  • Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
  • Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
  • Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

COMPENTENCIES

  • Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred. But it is not necessary.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine interest in helping guests.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn product information and confidently make recommendations to guests.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
