Company Overview

This client is a precision manufacturing facility operating within the aerospace supply chain. The facility operates under an accredited quality management system and supports both internal and external audit requirements across a complex, multi-department environment. This is a well-established site with significant capital investment underway, signaling long-term growth and stability for the right candidate.

Must-Haves

  • Prior experience as a Quality Manager, ideally within an aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including direct oversight of salaried and indirect hourly personnel
  • Ability to perform hands-on quality work this is not a purely supervisory role; the manager is expected to contribute directly to audits, spec updates, and certificate issuance
  • Strong administrative capabilities, including managing corrective actions, nonconformances, and customer/supplier communications
  • Proven ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced quality environment with competing priorities

Plusses

  • Experience with NADCAP-accredited processes
  • Familiarity with aerospace customer requirements and the administrative demands of customer-facing quality documentation
  • Background in a facility that produces precision or safety-critical components
  • Track record of successfully managing a quality team through periods of organizational change or elevated scrutiny

Day-to-Day

The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality leader who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day execution in a demanding aerospace manufacturing environment. This individual will manage three direct salaried reports including an NDT Level III engineer, a quality supervisor overseeing hourly inspection personnel, and a quality administrative assistant with indirect responsibility for approximately 15 additional team members. Each day begins with a 30-minute product disposition meeting to review and resolve items on quality hold, followed by active participation in a daily management meeting led by the site manager. Beyond structured meetings, the Quality Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving the facility's quality management system, managing internal and external audits, responding to customer and supplier requests, and serving as a backup for certificate issuance. This role reports directly to the site manager and carries a dotted-line relationship to a corporate quality manager based at another facility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily product disposition meetings to review and resolve quality holds across the facility
  • Actively participate in daily management meetings and contribute to site-wide operational decisions
  • Oversee and continuously improve the facility's quality management system in accordance with AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards
  • Manage internal and external quality audits from planning through closure
  • Drive corrective action and problem-solving processes for nonconformances
  • Respond to customer and supplier quality inquiries and fulfill administrative documentation requirements
  • Serve as a backup for issuing product certificates and supporting QMS updates
  • Directly manage three salaried direct reports: NDT Level III engineer, quality supervisor, and quality administrative assistant
  • Provide indirect leadership and support to approximately 15 hourly inspection personnel through the quality supervisor
  • Maintain and update quality specifications and procedures as required
  • Coordinate with the corporate quality manager on business unit quality alignment and reporting
