The Greer Group is seeking a Phlebotomist for our internal medicine client in Raleigh. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity. The position will primarily be based at one Raleigh location, with the flexibility to float between a second Raleigh office and a Cary office as needed.

Job Description:

  • Assemble equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures
  • Verify identity of patient prior to blood draw
  • Draw blood from patients via veni-puncture, arterial, and capillary punctures
  • Identifying and labeling specimens
  • Add or cancel a test, receive specimens, print labels, etc.
  • Work with sensitive patient cases in a confident manner
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies
  • Perform other lab related responsibilities as required

Competencies:

  • Medical terminology.
  • Laboratory regulations, policies, and functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of all the equipment and processes used in the laboratory for drawing blood
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Analysis and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
  • Infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
  • Understanding and following written and oral medical orders.
  • Time management, problem solving, multitasking, organizing, and prioritizing.
  • Completing work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.
  • Exhibiting a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • HIPAA standards.

Requirements:

  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and stooping on a daily basis.
  • Travel to other clinic sites as needed
  • Consistent use of PPE due to handling of potentially infectious materials.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Visual acuity and normal color perception.
  • Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate from a completed Phlebotomy program
  • At least 6 months experience in phlebotomy

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • At least one to two years of phlebotomy experience
  • Experience working in a physician’s office clinic
  • Phlebotomist (ASCP) certification
