We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our non-profit organization in Kent, Ohio. This role focuses on grant-related accounting, financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance across a range of funding sources. The position works closely with leadership and external auditors to support sound financial reporting and maintain strong stewardship of public and private funds.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and help complete monthly closing activities accurately and on schedule.
• Oversee financial tracking for multiple grants and contracts, ensuring expenses are recorded correctly and aligned with funding requirements.
• Maintain the general ledger for assigned areas and review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Support compliance with state, federal, county, and other grant-related regulations through thorough documentation and consistent monitoring.
• Assist with the preparation and review of grant reporting schedules, including materials related to the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards.
• Partner with external auditors and regulatory reviewers by gathering records, answering questions, and resolving follow-up items efficiently.
• Communicate financial information and grant status updates to stakeholders across the organization, including senior leadership.
• Work on-site in the Kent, Ohio office Monday through Friday while contributing to day-to-day accounting operations and financial controls.• Experience in staff accounting, grant accounting, or nonprofit accounting environments.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
• Familiarity with accounting for state and federal awards and related compliance expectations.
• Experience preparing, supporting, or auditing the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple grants or funding sources while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable collaborating with auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal leaders at various levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Availability to work on-site in Kent, Ohio on a Monday through Friday schedule.
