Direct Care Staff are responsible for the care and the well-being of the clients that they serve. Responsibilities? include home companionship, cleaning of the home, cooking meals, bathing of all clients, any hygiene needed, transportation including medical appointments, daily activities and any emergency situations that may occur, administering medications and daily care and assisting clients with learning daily skills. Be able to have good time management skills and perform any duties that is needed for all Individuals.
- Perform record keeping and documentation
- Professional demeanor required as you are dealing with confidential client information
- Assist residents in cleaning and maintain housing. Individual?s bedrooms, closets, and common areas including but not limited living area, kitchen and bathrooms including toilets and trash as well as Meal planning and preparation.
- Assist individuals with their daily hygiene such as showers, changing depends, shaving, teeth brushing, hair washing, deodorant etc., anything that our individual?s need.
- Assist individual in development by providing and support in their health needs identified in their ISP
- Medication administration
- Monitoring health related needs according to doctors? orders/transporting individuals to doctor?s appointments/ER while on shift
- Assist individual in development of natural support networks and development of community living skills, as outlined in ISP, as well as encourage social groups and community activities (Person Centered Planning)
- Maintain ongoing communication with other providers that may be providing services such as day programs, and have communication with other staff, house manager.
- Read daily shift documentation for all individuals
- Report all individual concerns to your house manager and to the office manager.
- Staff will not discuss personal lives with the individuals they are working with. All communication about families are to be very general
- If there is a problem at the home between staff, that will not take place at the individuals home. Make an appointment with your supervisor to work the problem out. If that does not help the issue, all parties involved will meet with the Administrator/ CEO to resolve the matter.
