Position Summary
The Sales Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers and theADiSales team by developing practical automation, integration, controls, and electrical solutions that address customer challenges and support business growth. This role combines technicalexpertise, customer service, and commercial awareness to help customers define project requirements, evaluate options, andidentifythe best solution for their application.
Controls & System Integration Support
- Apply knowledge of industrial control systems,buildingautomation platforms, electrical distribution, and control panel construction to develop customer solutions.
- Support integration of ADicontrol panels within larger automation, industrial, OEM, and building ecosystems.
- Ensure proposed solutions are practical to manufacture, install, commission, andmaintain.
- Identifyopportunities to standardize solutions and leverageADiengineering and manufacturing capabilities.
Technical Sales Support
- Partner with customers and the Sales team to understand operational challenges, technical requirements, project goals, and application needs.
- Develop practical controls, automation, and electrical solutions aligned with customer requirements andADi'scapabilities.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales process by recommending solutions and communicating technical value to customers.
- Review customer specifications, electrical drawings, control narratives, schematics, sequences of operation, and other technical documentation.
- Respond to technical questions andprovideapplication guidance during solution development, quoting, and project planning.
Estimating & Proposal Development
- Developaccuratetechnical scopes, assumptions, exclusions, and project requirements.
- Support the preparation of estimates, quotations, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Identifyequipment, labor, materials, manufacturing considerations, and technical risks necessary foraccurateproject costing.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement tovalidatecost, manufacturability, lead times, and technical feasibility.
- Support marginobjectivesby recommending technically sound and commerciallyviablesolutions.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting industrial control systems and electrical control panels ina customer-facing technical support, applications engineering, control engineering, or systems integration role.
- Bachelor’sdegree in electrical engineering,mechanicalengineering,engineeringtechnology,automation, or related technical fieldpreferred.
- Minimum of7+years of engineering, automation,technical fieldsupportordesign of industrial control systems such as PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, power distribution, networking, and integration of third-party equipment.
- Minimum of2+years oftechnical sales,solution selling,estimating, customer-facing troubleshooting roleor related experience preferred.
- Experience integrating control panels, OEM equipment, sensors, drives, meters, buildingsystemsor industrial automation equipment into larger operational ecosystems.
- Exposure to commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or lifecycle support of industrial control systems is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction in manufacturing and engineering environments.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Ability to review detailed drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Occasional travel to customer locations, trade shows, suppliers, or industry events.
- Ability to access and navigate manufacturing facilities and customer sites as needed, with or without reasonableaccommodations.
