PCGH, Inc. is hiring Relief Caregivers / Direct Support Professionals to help cover open shifts in several of our residential and day programs in Person County.
This is generally a part-time position, although full-time hours may sometimes be available for someone with broad availability. Hours are not guaranteed. Relief staff help cover vacations, scheduled leave, open positions, call-outs, training, appointments, and other staffing needs.
Some opportunities come up on short notice, but many are planned well in advance. The amount and type of work available will depend on your availability, the needs of our programs, and the needs of the people we serve.
There is no single set schedule for this position. We work from the availability you give us and match that with open shifts across our programs.
Someone with weekday, evening, weekend, or broad availability will generally have more opportunities to pick up hours. You do not have to be available for everything, but we do need people who can be reasonably flexible and willing to work at more than one nearby PCGH location.
Most PCGH locations used for this position are within about 1 to 2 miles of Uptown Roxboro, with only a couple located a little farther out in Person County.
The workRelief DSPs step into the same direct-support work performed by our regularly scheduled staff. Depending on the program and the people being supported, responsibilities may include:
This position works best for someone who is comfortable with variety and can adjust to different programs, coworkers, schedules, and individual routines.
We do not expect someone to walk into a new program during the first week and somehow know every person, routine, preference, health need, and support plan. Relief staff do need to learn quickly and be comfortable stepping in where they are needed, but we make sure they have the information, training, and support necessary to do the job safely and confidently.
We want staff to be comfortable before taking on responsibilities independently. The people we serve depend on that too.
What we needPrevious caregiving, direct support, group home, healthcare, behavioral health, or similar experience is helpful. We provide the required training for the position.
Pay and trainingStarting pay generally ranges from $12.00 to $15.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience and the program or home assignment.
Some shifts, schedules, or assignments also offer additional incentives or differentials that can be added to the base rate for staff who choose those opportunities.
PCGH provides paid onboarding and required training. Relief staff who want additional hours may also have opportunities to move into regular part-time or full-time positions as openings become available.
PCGH, Inc. has served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries in Person County since 1975.
