U.S. Water is a fast paced and rapidly expanding company headquartered in New Port Richey, Florida with a staff of over 950 employees in twenty states.Essential job FunctionsProcesses meter readings, requesting re-reads, preparing work orders, making estimated readings, and preparing customer billings; reviews and edits billing reports.Generate invoices from computer - use Neopost mailing machine to fold, stuff, and prepare invoices for mailing. Process invoices for delivery to Post Office according to Postal regulations.Responds to customer inquiries for changes in service, complaints and questions. Assists Senior Utilities Billing Specialist in answering calls in regard to liens, past due balances, and releases of liens.Downloading delinquent account information into Lotus file and manipulating that report for meter readers use in performing cutoff of service.Processes past due accounts, generate penalty notices and post to account. Process return checks and send notices to customers.Process meter change outs and work orders on accounts. Process bank drafts and other transactions.Adjusts accounts as appropriate.Interpret Client contracts for monthly billingEnter schedule of rates into billing systemClose out work orders according to contract feesAssign purchase orders. Attach, code, and enter invoice amountsAbility to perform advanced administrative clerical skillsOccasionally attend Board / Council MeetingsOrganized filing and electronic filingKnowledge of builder servicesCompletes all task within specified deadlinesKnowledge of customer service and good people skillsAbility to work in fast pace environmentWork with meter readers and Supervisor in order to do various functions in the office and in the field. This includesunloading work completed and loading PI's with work needed for the next business day.Writes correspondence and maintains office files, keeps inventory of office supplies. Adjust, operate, and maintain mailing machine.Update payments on accounts daily. Fax cutoff list to utilities daily.Schedule final reads and then process final bills. Obtain proper information and set up new accounts.Other DutiesAs assigned, performs work of other Utility Specialists in the office as backup and fill-in. Performs related work as required.Knowledge, Abilities and SkillsKnowledge of--Modern office practices and procedures including the operation of standard office equipment such as calculators, desktop computers, copiers, printers, and typewriters, and Neopost mailing machine.Billing procedures.Ability toIdentify nonstandard or problem situations and take appropriate actions.Communicate effectively with customers.Coordinate efforts with others to achieve common goals.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies.Accurately process meter readings and prepare water and sewer billings.Communicate effectively with utilities, Treasurer's Office, and meter reader Supervisor on a daily basis.Assist Senior Utility Billing Specialist in regard to collections on past due accounts, liens, and releases of liens.Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)Training and/or EducationHigh school diploma or GED.ExperienceThree years of general office or accounting clerical experience or one year of billing experience.
