Summary Develops, implements, and improves machining processes supporting production and new product introduction. Provides technical ownership of assigned products and processes, resolves complex manufacturing issues, and supports quality, cost, schedule, and continuous-improvement objectives with limited supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Develop and improve CNC machining processes, including operation sequences, tooling, workholding, feeds/speeds, setup strategies, inspection requirements, and process parameters.
- Create and maintain Methods of Manufacture (MoM), routings, manufacturing instructions, and related ERP documentation.
- Design or coordinate tooling, fixtures, soft jaws, gauges, workholding, and other manufacturing aids.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, blueprints, and 3D models using CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar systems.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional, surface-finish, cycle-time, and machine-capability issues and lead root-cause/corrective-action efforts.
- Conduct manufacturability reviews and recommend product or process improvements to enhance quality, cost, schedule, and production flow.
- Support CNC/CAM program development and validation, estimating/quoting, setup and run-time analysis, and capacity planning.
- Lead or support cost, scrap, rework, set-up-time, cycle-time, tooling, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Support new product introduction, first article, production readiness, process validation, and product transitions.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, and other teams to resolve manufacturing issues and meet delivery requirements.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and mentoring to production personnel and less experienced engineers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline and typically 3–5 years of related manufacturing engineering experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- CNC machining/manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of tooling, workholding, GD&T, CAD/3D models, ERP systems, root-cause analysis, and aerospace manufacturing practices preferred.
- Strong technical problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple manufacturing priorities and work effectively across functions.
- Successful completion of required pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in office and manufacturing environments and requires regular interaction with machine shop personnel. Exposure to typical noise, equipment, tooling, and coolant may occur. Domestic or international travel may be required.
