The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

This hands-on role works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot CNC machining, tooling, and equipment issues while driving process improvements across CNC operations - focusing on analyzing production data, resolving root causes of issues, and implementing corrective actions to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to address process and quality issues.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and drive improvements that enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Assist with CNC machining process optimization, including tool selection, cutting parameters, and cycle time reduction.
  • Support prototype machining and production trials to introduce new products or processes into manufacturing.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure parts meet dimensional and functional requirements.
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to ensure new products and processes are launched successfully.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Process FMEAs and Control Plans to manage process risks and ensure consistent quality.
  • Conduct process validation and capability studies to confirm that manufacturing processes meet capability and performance requirements.
Essential Skills
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining or automotive manufacturing environment
  • GD&T experience

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Experience with PLC
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and machining centers
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Exposure to APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans
  • SAP

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on CNC machining operations that support heavy-duty trucking and off-highway industry customers.

Schedule: ~ 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,

  • Flexibility for an earlier start/end time
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Webberville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
