Material Handler Retail

The Material Handler isresponsible for daily operations of bailers used for salvage textiles. They are also responsible for equipment upkeep, and maintaining aclean, neat and safe work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operates baler to contain salvaged textiles:
   1. Removes incoming container to baler staging area;
   2. Transfer materials from storage truck to baler;
   3. Loads and operates baler according to established procedures;
   4. Unloads completed bales according to established procedures and places in holding areas;
   5. Moves bales from holding area to bale storage area;
   6. Transfer bales to tractor trailer from bale storage area using material handling equipment;
   7. Maintains bale storage area according to guidelines;
   8. Moves Gaylord containers to donated goods storage area.
2. Follow the Warehouse guidelines for salvage production goals and monthly revenue totals. Effectively manage personnel, fiscal and logistical resources based on mission
3. Ensures effective and timely transportation of merchandise/salvage and supplies in accordance with established guidelines.
4. Remains trained in all aspects of equipment/material handling safety procedures according to organization guidelines.
5. Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Donated Goods Center by remaining crosstrained on all other retail store back room operations and performing all other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. This position is required to work nights, weekends and holidays.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read and understand documents such as time cards and policy manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports.
• Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly to other employees and customers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is usually working in a comfortable and store environment. The employee will be exposed to the donation processing area which is a factory-like environment.
