Position snapshot
- Full-time, remote, salaried role with frequent travel.
- Customer-facing field position servicing analytical and metallographic instruments.
- Territory focus: Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia; occasional travel to neighboring regions.
- Travel rhythm: Up to 5 days/week; up to four overnight hotel stays Monday–Friday as needed.
- Preferred location: Louisville, KY area.
- $5,000 signing bonus.
Core responsibilities
- Preventive and routine maintenance, fault isolation, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs.
- Install new instruments; perform updates and upgrade kit implementations.
- Deliver user training on instrument theory, operation, software, and maintenance best practices.
- Execute all work in accordance with LECO’s ISO accreditation.
What we’re looking for
- Self-starter with clear written and verbal communication.
- Professional conduct and adherence to customer site policies and safety standards.
- Detail focus and strong organizational habits.
- Comfort with daily travel and up to four overnights per week (Mon–Fri).
- Valid driver’s license; clean driving record.
- Mechanical proficiency; experience with AC/DC electronics or the ability to learn rapidly.
- Bonus experience: Chemistry or military background (not required).
Training path
- 3–5 months of initial technical training at LECO HQ in St. Joseph, MI.
- Field mentoring alongside seasoned Service Engineers across the U.S.
- Annual service training at HQ to maintain and advance competencies.
Education and equivalents
- Two-year Technical Degree or Trade School, or
- Prior Military with technical training, or
- Equivalent technical work experience/training.
