Qualifications:

  • Active ASL (American Sign Language) certification or credential required
  • Previous experience working as a paraprofessional, especially in educational settings, strongly preferred
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders and best practices for supportive interventions
  • Patient, positive, and adaptable approach to individualized instruction
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized, direct support to one 2nd grade student with Autism throughout the school day
  • Implement communication strategies utilizing ASL for optimal learning and engagement
  • Assist with classroom participation, social interactions, and task completion
  • Help with daily routines, transitions, and fostering student independence
  • Track student progress and communicate updates to the educational team and family
  • Support inclusion and advocate for the student’s needs within the school community
