Step into a rewarding contract role as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive Montessori environment, working closely with K-6th grade students in a resource room setting. This position runs from September 8, 2026, through June 18, 2027, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary learners. You'll be guiding a manageable caseload of 17 students, shaping their educational journey each day from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Ideal applicants are experienced Special Education Teachers with a passion for individualized instruction. Previous exposure to Montessori methods or resource room teaching will be especially valued.

Desired background and skills:

  • Valid state certification in Special Education, with eligibility to teach elementary-level grades
  • Experience in resource room or support settings for students with diverse learning needs
  • Familiarity with Montessori education principles preferred
  • Strong ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction and interventions in the resource room for students in grades K-6
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with best practices and legal guidelines
  • Track and report student progress, adjusting plans as needed
  • Engage and collaborate with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate records and foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere
