We are looking for a dedicated Manufacturing Process Engineer to enhance operational reliability, safety, and productivity within our heavy industrial facilities. This role works directly alongside floor personnel to minimize process variability, implement root-cause solutions, and advance equipment efficiency across heavy component processing lines.
Responsibilities
- EHS Leadership: Design and implement engineering solutions that reduce workplace hazards, maintain strict safety standards, and encourage proactive risk management.
- Process Optimization & Problem Solving: Lead targeted continuous improvement projects and daily root-cause analyses aimed at lowering operational costs, raising throughput, and integrating new technology.
- Variation Control: Evaluate process metrics and key operational parameters to refine yield, reduce output variance, and stabilize production lines.
- Standardization & Knowledge Transfer: Document updated operating procedures, execute hands-on operator training, conduct regular audits, and establish standard work instructions based on shop-floor insights.
- Area Ownership: Serve as the technical lead for primary finishing machinery, including thermal processing, mechanical straightening, non-destructive testing, cutting, and related finishing equipment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Automation, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams to execute equipment modifications, lead capital improvement projects, evaluate plant trials, and resolve urgent production outages (including occasional off-shift support).
- Corporate & Technical Strategy: Collaborate with centralized engineering groups, R&D initiatives, sustainability projects, and compliance audits to align local operations with broader organizational standards.
- Performance Tracking: Measure success using core operational metrics, including overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), scrap rates, unit production costs, consumable efficiency, and first-time pass rates.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, or related discipline).
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years in a heavy manufacturing, metallurgy, or continuous processing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in root-cause problem-solving methodologies, data analysis tools, process monitoring software, and standard enterprise applications (MS Office / O365).
- Certifications: Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is highly desirable.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.
Professional Attributes
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities across all organizational levels.
- Accountable, self-directed work ethic with high attention to detail.
- Adaptable attitude toward change, process iteration, and feedback.
- Commitment to team development, peer coaching, and shared best practices.
