About the Role

The Payroll & AccountingOpsSpecialist will support the financial operations of Babel Street by executing payroll processes andassistingwith broader accounting operations. This role reports to the Accounting Operations Manager and is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across U.S. andInternational operations,andprovidingoperational accountingsupport across key accounting functionsincluding billing and collections, accounts payable and payments,cash management,tax and other areas.

This position requires a detail-oriented, highly responsible,committedand dependableprofessional with strong payroll and foundational accounting knowledge, capable of managing day-to-day payrollactivitiesand supportingthe functionsnoted above. The role will play a keypartinmaintainingpayroll accuracy, supporting compliance efforts, and contributing to scalable, efficient accounting processes as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

Global Payroll Processing & Coordination:

  • Execute and support end-to-end global payroll processing for adynamic, expanding, multi-entity and multi-state company with approximately250worldwideemployees
  • Prepare U.S. semi-monthly payrolls, and special payrolls as needed,for exempt and non-exempt employees,salaried and hourly employees,ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Coordinate with third-party payroll providers for U.S. andfiveInternationalpayrolls (Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, and UK)
  • Maintain payroll records andsupportdocumentation
  • Act as a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issues, providingtimelyand effective resolutions, and escalating complex, non-routine, or high-risk matters to the Accounting Operations Manager for review and guidance

Financial Statement Close Support:

  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries for review
  • Assistin payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporttimelycompletion of payroll deliverables

Payroll Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Support payroll tax compliance activities
  • Prepare payroll reports for internal stakeholders and audits
  • Assistwith audit documentation requests

HR & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with HR to ensureaccurateemployee data updates
  • Collaborate on payroll-related improvements

Accounting Operations Support:

  • Support the Accounting Operations Manager with broader accounting and finance operation as needed
  • Assistwith sales tax compliance activities, including data preparation and coordination of filings
  • Support accounts receivable processes, including billing, collections, customerfollow-upsand dunning communications
  • Assistwith ad hoc accounting tasks, reconciliations, and process improvements
  • Provide backup support forotheroperational accounting processes as needed
Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’sDegree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)preferred
  • CPP certificationpreferred

Experience and Knowledge:

  • 3+years of payroll or accounting experience
  • U.S. payrollprocessingexpertise
  • Operational accountingexperience(AP,AR, sales tax,cash management, etc.) preferred
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations
  • Basic understanding of accounting operations and workflows
  • Basic understanding ofinternational payroll is a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledgeofpayroll systems (Paylocity preferred)
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with HRIS platforms is a plus
  • Experience supporting systems implementations, integrations, or process automation initiatives across payroll, HRIS, and accounting platforms is a plus

  • Strong communicationand collaboration skills
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately
