Electronics Assembly / PCB Assembly Technician
Instrumented Sensor Technology, Inc. (IST) is seeking an experienced Electronics Assembly Technician to support the assembly, inspection, testing, and production of our electronic instrumentation products, including the EDR series of shock and vibration data recorders
Applicants lacking specific electronics assembly and hi-precision soldering experience need not apply.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong PCB assembly skills who enjoys careful, detailed work in a small electronics manufacturing environment. The technician will perform both printed circuit board work and final electromechanical product assembly.
Primary Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Previous professional electronics assembly experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated skill with fine-pitch hand soldering and SMT rework, good workmanship under magnification, and experience working with small electronic components. Familiarity with reflow/hot-air equipment, solder paste, flux, conformal coating, PCB cleaning, ESD procedures, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electronic test equipment is desirable. (6-8 years electronics assembly experience, preferred)
Experience reading schematics, PCB assembly drawings, component-placement drawings, and BOMs is highly desirable. IPC soldering certification or experience working to IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 workmanship practices would be a plus, but certification is not necessarily required.
The position requires excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, patience, and the ability to perform precision work reliably. Experience with prototype or low-volume/high-mix electronics manufacturing is particularly relevant.
Position environment: Small electronics manufacturing and engineering company; hands-on work with engineering and production personnel; primarily bench assembly, inspection, rework, testing, and small-product assembly.
Work Location: In person
The company develops, manufactures and services portable electronic instruments for dynamic measurement. Customers include Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Orbital Sciences, Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, Raytheon, The US Army, and more.
