Job Description

The Manufacturing Supervisor oversees daily production operations in a food manufacturing environment, working closely with Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. This role leads production employees and Line Leads on an overnight shift, drives adherence to GMP, food safety, and safety standards, and fosters a positive, accountable, and continuously improving work environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead production employees and Line Leads throughout the shift to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Manage daily production activities, including staffing, scheduling, line assignments, and production changeovers.
• Monitor productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency metrics and take action to meet or exceed targets.
• Troubleshoot production and equipment issues in partnership with the Maintenance team to minimize downtime.
• Enforce GMP, food safety, SQF, and company safety standards on the production floor at all times.
• Train, coach, and develop employees to build skills, promote accountability, and support career growth.
• Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, and Warehouse to ensure smooth operations and on-time delivery.
• Support the Plant Manager by assisting with plant-wide initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement activities.
• Step into Plant Manager responsibilities when required to ensure continuity of leadership and operations.
• Oversee shift operations in high-speed manufacturing and packaging environments, ensuring equipment is utilized effectively.
• Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA) to address process, quality, or safety issues and prevent recurrence.
• Manage workforce planning on the shift, including staffing levels, employee assignments, and labor utilization.
• Use production metrics and KPIs to drive performance, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of production supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing teams of 20 or more employees.
• Strong in GMP, SQF, food safety, and safety compliance.
• Proven production management and supervision skills in a high-speed manufacturing setting.
• Experience with staffing, scheduling, and production planning for shift operations.
• Demonstrated ability to coach employees, manage performance, and drive accountability.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting machines and resolving production issues.
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and being on-call as needed.
• Capability to step into Plant Manager responsibilities when required.
• Experience with KPI management and production metrics.
• Knowledge of HACCP principles and food production processes.
• Strong management and supervisory skills, including employee relations and workforce development.
• Experience in continuous improvement, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
• Experience with packaging equipment, warehouse operations, and shift operations in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a Manufacturing Team Lead, Production Lead, or in Operations Leadership roles.
• Food manufacturing experience, including food production and packaging operations, is preferred.
• Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and CAPA processes.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, and food safety systems.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Experience in warehouse operations and logistics coordination.
• Strong skills in employee relations, workforce development, and shift leadership.
• Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility and follows an overnight schedule, typically from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, three and a half days per week. The schedule includes one weekend day depending on whether the shift covers the front or back half of the week, and the position may require being on-call as needed. The environment involves high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment, adherence to GMP, SQF, HACCP, and food safety standards, and close collaboration with Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, and Warehouse teams. This is an exempt position, and compensation is based on experience. Relocation assistance is available for candidates who are moving for the role. The company provides uniforms and an annual protective shoe stipend to support safety and comfort on the production floor. This is a Permanent position based out of Pittston, PA.

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
