Job Description

The Facility Operations Analyst plays a critical role on an expeditionary support team, ensuring the operational readiness of essential infrastructure and bare base facility systems. This position focuses on maintaining life-support and operational facilities in austere, remote, and occasionally hazardous environments. The role requires a highly motivated, self-starting professional with strong technical versatility, the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, and a willingness to travel for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, service, repair, and preventive maintenance on portable and environmental control units (ECUs/HVAC) to ensure optimal climate control for personnel and sensitive equipment, with refrigeration experience considered a plus.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generators ranging from 5 kW to 200 kW and above, along with associated electrical distribution systems, to guarantee continuous and reliable power supply.
• Manage the rapid setup, upkeep, and repair of expeditionary plumbing systems, including water and wastewater, as well as temporary structures such as tents and hard-sided shelters.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on a wide variety of bare base equipment to ensure sustained operational capability.
• Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC electrical wiring, fixtures, and control systems within temporary and expeditionary facilities.
• Ensure all assigned equipment remains mission-capable, properly inventoried, and ready for rapid deployment at all times.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory using designated maintenance management systems and tools.
• Work independently in high-pressure, austere environments, making sound technical decisions to support operational readiness.
• Adapt quickly to new and specialized equipment, learning and applying maintenance and repair procedures as needed.

Essential Skills

• Proven, hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including environmental control units.
• Demonstrated experience working with generators, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of power generation and electrical distribution systems.
• Strong experience in facility maintenance, including plumbing systems (water and wastewater) and temporary or expeditionary structures.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical wiring, fixtures, and control systems in facility and bare base environments.
• Active EPA Section 608 Universal Certification for handling HVAC systems (highly preferred).
• Licensed HVAC technician credential (preferred).
• Familiarity with bare base and expeditionary equipment, including rapid-deployment structures, is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter, operating independently with minimal supervision in high-pressure environments.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to improvise and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Willingness and aptitude to learn maintenance and repair of new and specialized equipment.
• Ability to travel for extended periods, up to 90 days within a consecutive 12-month period.
• Capability to deploy to austere, remote, or hazardous overseas locations when required.
• Physical fitness to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs.), work in extreme weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights as necessary.
• Ability to pass pre-deployment medical and dental screenings in accordance with theater entry requirements.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance and comply with all security and theater entry requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with facilities equipment and facility maintenance in expeditionary or remote environments.
• Experience in heavy equipment operation related to facility and bare base support.
• Experience with generator installation and commissioning in field or temporary settings.
• Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in both portable and fixed installations.
• Comfort working in autonomous roles that require strong initiative and decision-making in the field.
• Ability to maintain detailed records and use maintenance management systems for tracking work orders, repairs, and inventory.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in expeditionary and austere environments, including remote and potentially hazardous overseas locations. Work may take place in temporary facilities such as tents, hard-sided shelters, and bare base structures, often under extreme weather conditions. The position involves frequent travel and may require deployments of up to 90 days within a 12-month period. Daily activities include hands-on work with HVAC systems, generators, electrical distribution networks, plumbing systems, and a wide range of bare base equipment. The work environment can involve confined spaces and working at heights, with regular lifting of equipment weighing 50 pounds or more. Team members use designated maintenance management systems and standard tools and equipment to document activities, maintain operational readiness, and support rapid deployment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $36.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
