We're selective about who joins our team because our reputation is built on doing things right - for our customers and for each other.Position OverviewThe BAS (Building Automation System) Project Manager is responsible for planning and executing commercial building automation projects from prebid through closeout. This role provides overall direction for one or more projects, including cost control, scheduling, procurement, subcontract coordination, and field oversight.This position works closely with department manager, account managers, field teams, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards, while maintaining strong customer relationships and supporting future work opportunities.PrimaryResponsibilitiesSurvey & PreBidReview project documents, plans, and specifications for accuracy and completenessPrepare material takeoffs and job surveysVerify accuracy of estimates and job cost setup prior to project releaseSupport pricing and scope development for change orders and additional workParticipate in customer presentations and scope reviewsProject Management & ExecutionProvide overall direction for assigned projectsConduct prebid and ongoing planning meetings to ensure project teams understand:Contract termsScope of workSchedule requirementsSpecial conditions or constraintsDocument planning meetings and ensure action items are completedDevelop, maintain, and update project schedulesMonitor manpower plans to ensure alignment with project schedulesProcure equipment and manage subcontract and equipment buyoutsTrack job costs and accurately forecast final project performanceMaintain billing schedules and ensure timely invoicingCoordinate production activities with the department managerVisit job sites regularly to inspect work, monitor progress, and resolve issuesInvestigate project risks and implement corrective actions when neededManage scope changes to ensure timely documentation, pricing, and approvalConduct and attend project closeout and endofjob meetingsCustomer & Team CoordinationDevelop and maintain professional, longterm customer relationshipsServe as a technical and operational resource for customers and internal teamsSupport communication between field operations, office staff, and customersAssist in resolving project issues and scope deviations after validationSupport development of future work through performance and relationship managementRequired QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience managing commercial construction and/or BAS projectsProven experience negotiating change orders and presenting projects to customersStrong problemsolving ability for complex, multidiscipline projectsExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skillsAbility to interpret:Contract documentsPlans and specificationsSchematics and isometric drawingsProficiency in technical and business correspondenceExperience with computerized job cost accounting systemsProficiency with Microsoft Office, including intermediatelevel ExcelStrong understanding of:Fixedprice contractsCostplus workUnitrate pricing modelsAbility to work from job trailers, field offices, or office environmentsAbility to safely navigate active job sitesWillingness to be reasonably oncall to support customer operations, including some evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to be on job sites regularly to monitor progress and conduct meetingsWhy Work at West TechsStable commercial and industrial project pipelineAbility to manage complex, highvalue projectsStrong field and operational supportClear accountability without ambiguityTeamfocused culture with high standards and structure
