About the Role:
Emmitsburg Osteopathic Primary Care Center is looking for a dedicated and organized Medical Secretary to join our caring team in Emmitsburg, MD. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional front desk experience
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) and patient files accurately
- Process insurance verifications, referrals, and prior authorizations
- Handle medical billing support, co-pay collection, and patient account management
- Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, and clinical staff
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative training or certification preferred
- Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare administrative role strongly preferred
- Familiarity with EHR systems, medical terminology, and insurance processes
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
