DEPARTMENT: Motor Pool

REPORTS TO: Grounds & Housekeeping Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months

EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part -Time

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for safely transporting students to and from the university +++9-school or other school-related activities. They must follow a set schedule and route, ensuring the safety of all passengers. In addition to driving, they may also have additional responsibilities, such as conducting pre-trip inspections and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the bus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate a commercial bus following a set schedule and route.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy environment on the bus.
  • Communicate with students and staff as needed regarding bus schedules or upcoming events.
  • Report any accidents, incidents or issues that occur during transport.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings as necessary.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Skill in the operation of commercial passenger vans or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the greater Frankfort area and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on small commercial vehicles, and to identify vehicle problems and malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of requirements and standards related to the safe and efficient operation of light commercial vehicles.
  • Knowledge of basic first-aid and/or CPR techniques.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
