Counter Attendant

At The Outsider Manistee’s award-winning tavern and pinball arcade the counter is where the energy starts. Guests walk in hungry, excited, sometimes curious about the pinball machines, and it’s your job to make them feel welcome and taken care of.

We’ve built a reputation for great food and great experiences. Our smash burgers and crispy fries have earned Best Burger, Best Fry, and Best New Restaurant in the Advocate Readers’ Choice Awards, along with this year’s Emerging Business Award. Now we’re looking for someone who loves interacting with people and can help deliver the kind of friendly, efficient service that keeps guests coming back.

• Follow best practices for cleanliness, packaging, presentation, and food safety
• Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wash hands frequently
• Communicate clearly with both the kitchen and front-of-house team to keep service moving smoothly
• Keep front-of-house equipment clean and running well (drink machines, coolers, coffee machine, etc.)
• Greet guests warmly and help create a welcoming, positive experience
• Answer guest questions and handle concerns professionally, looping in management when needed
• Communicate allergy concerns to the kitchen team
• Monitor food flow and help reduce cross-contamination risks
• Learn and confidently operate the point-of-sale system
• Answer phone calls and prepare delivery orders accurately
• Deliver food to guests and call out orders using the PA system when needed
• Stay coachable, receptive to training, and eager to grow your skills
• Collaborate with management and teammates on events, service improvements, and guest experience

Flexible Hours
(Fri–Sun), starting at 15 hrs and expanding 25+ hours/week through end of Sept.

Great Pay
Base ( $9.00 / hr ) + tips with expected earnings of $18–$21/hour
