About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Freight Broker to manage transportation logistics between shippers and carriers. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can build relationships, negotiate rates, coordinate shipments, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with shippers and freight carriers
- Source and negotiate competitive transportation rates
- Book and coordinate freight shipments from pickup through delivery
- Match available loads with qualified and reliable carriers
- Communicate shipment details, schedules, and updates to customers and carriers
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or service issues
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, rates, and customer information
- Negotiate pricing while protecting company margins
- Generate new business and identify opportunities to grow the customer base
- Ensure all transportation activities comply with applicable company and industry requirements
Qualifications
- Previous freight brokerage, transportation, logistics, or sales experience preferred
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable working with transportation management systems (TMS) and CRM software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional logistics education is a plus
