Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our manufacturing team. The Welder will fabricate, assemble, and join metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role focuses on producing high-quality welds that meet ASME and company standards, supporting HVAC and general manufacturing projects, and contributing to a safe, efficient production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings to determine weld type, size, and sequence.
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and stick processes to join steel, stainless steel, and other metals with consistent quality.
- Fabricate, fit, and assemble components through cutting, grinding, and joining operations, ensuring dimensional accuracy and specified tolerances.
- Inspect and test welds visually and with non-destructive testing methods (as required) to ensure compliance with specifications and ASME codes.
- Maintain welding equipment, consumables, and workspace; report equipment issues and perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area; use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, engineers, and other trades (including HVAC technicians) to meet production schedules and resolve fabrication issues.
- Document work performed, including weld logs, inspection records, and material traceability as required by quality systems.
- Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, and other laborer tasks as needed to support the manufacturing workflow.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve weld quality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Certifications in welding such as AWS Certified Welder or ASME Section IX qualification preferred.
- Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on welding experience in a production or manufacturing setting; experience with HVAC fabrication is a plus.
- Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes and familiarity with gas and filler selection for various metals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and basic welding procedure specifications (WPS).
- Working knowledge of ASME welding codes and quality standards; experience with inspection and basic non-destructive testing methods preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
- Physical ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team; willingness to assist with general laborer duties when required.
- Forklift or other relevant equipment certifications are a plus; willingness to complete company-required safety and technical training.
