Field Service Technician

Our global manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join their team at their East Pittsburgh, PA headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, working directly with customers, and traveling to customer facilities across the country.
In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring customers’ capital equipment is installed, maintained, and operating at peak performance. When you’re not traveling, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the Machine Build team at the Pittsburgh facility.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical support to customers involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of company-manufactured capital equipment.
- Travel to customer facilities to install new machines, diagnose equipment issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop effective repair solutions.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries, service requests, and equipment concerns.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, repairs, and improvements.
- Evaluate required materials, parts, tools, and resources and coordinate the ordering of components as needed.
- Assist the Machine Build Department with machine assembly and related activities while working at the Pittsburgh headquarters.
- Partner with Sales, Engineering, and other internal teams to communicate customer concerns, requests, RFQs, orders, and service needs.
- Document service calls, repairs, parts used, and other relevant information in Salesforce.
- Follow up with customers regarding replacement parts, tooling, and additional service needs.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and submit timely expense reports.
- Travel up to 80% to customer locations.
What We’re Looking For
- Technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Technology, or 3+ years of hands-on field service, mechanical maintenance, repair, or related experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Electrical control systems
- PLC experience is a plus.
- Experience using diagnostic and precision measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, digital multimeters (DMMs), and oscilloscopes.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and related technical documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to work independently in the field.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%.
