Job Title: Will Call Loader

Department: Operations

Reports To: Inventory Manager



Job Summary:

The Will Call Loader plays a key role in supporting customer fulfillment and inventory accuracy within the lumber yard. This cross-trained position is responsible for executing will-call orders, assisting with product handling, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The role includes cashiering, loading, and basic lumber cutting duties, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and customer service. Reporting to the Inventory Manager, the Will Call Loader ensures that all will-call processes are executed in alignment with company standards and contributes to the overall efficiency of the inventory and receiving teams.



Key Responsibilities:

Will-Call Fulfillment & Customer Support:


Greet and assist customers during pickups, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of will-call orders. Provide knowledgeable support on lumber and building materials (LBM) and communicate effectively with the inventory and sales teams.

Cashiering & Transaction Processing:


Accurately process cash, credit, and electronic payments. Maintain proper cash drawer balancing and ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with company procedures.

Loading & Material Handling:


Safely load LBM and millwork products into customer vehicles. Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing stock in coordination with the receiving team.

Lumber Cutting & Equipment Operation:


Cut lumber to specified dimensions using appropriate tools. Operate forklifts, saws, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.

Inventory Support & Product Tagging:


Ensure correct pricing and tagging of products. Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory needs or discrepancies to the Inventory Manager.

Safety & Compliance:


Follow all company policies related to equipment use, lifting techniques, and workplace safety. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free barn area.

Process Accountability:


Execute will-call procedures as defined by the Inventory Manager. Support inventory control initiatives by maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to shrink reduction efforts.



Qualifications:

Experience:


Previous experience in cashiering, warehouse operations, or customer service preferred. Experience in the lumber and building materials industry is a plus.

Skills:


Strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Technical Knowledge:


Familiarity with LBM products and basic lumber cutting techniques. Ability to safely operate forklifts, saws, and other equipment.

Physical Requirements:


Ability to lift heavy materials (>70 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying conditions.
