PositionOverview
EOSolutionsisseekinganEmbeddedSoftwareEngineertosupportthedevelopment,integration,andtestingofembeddedcontrolsoftwareforadvancedHighEnergyLaser(HEL)systems.
Thispositionwillprimarilysupportourdirectedenergyprograms,developingsoftwarethatinterfacesdirectlywithsensors,actuators,electronics,communicationshardware,andcontrolsystems.
Wearelookingforengineerswhoenjoyworkingattheboundarybetweensoftwareandelectricalhardware.Theidealcandidatehasastrongfoundationinembeddedprogrammingandenoughelectricalengineeringknowledgetotroubleshootrealsystemsusingschematics,oscilloscopes,logicanalyzers,andotherlaboratoryequipment.
Thispositionisopentocandidatesrangingfromtalentednewgraduatestoexperiencedembeddedsoftwareengineers.Responsibilitiesandtechnicalleadershipopportunitieswillscalewithexperience.
KeyResponsibilities
- DevelopembeddedsoftwareandfirmwareinRustorC/C++forreal-timecontrolsystems.
- Integratesoftwarewithsensors,actuators,motorcontrollers,communicationsinterfaces,andotherhardware.
- Developandtestcommunicationsbetweenembeddeddevicesandhigher-levelcontrolsystems.
- Debughardware/softwareinteractionsusinglaboratoryequipmentsuchasoscilloscopes,multimeters,andlogicanalyzers.
- Developautomatedunit,integration,andhardware-in-the-looptests.
- Participateinsystemintegration,laboratorytesting,andfieldtesting.
- Workcloselywithsoftware,electrical,mechanical,optical,andcontrolsengineers.
- DevelopmaintainablesoftwareusingGit,codereviews,CI/CD,andautomatedtesting.
- Documentsoftwareinterfaces,designs,testprocedures,andresults.
- UsemodernAI-assistedsoftwaredevelopmenttoolswhileindependentlyverifyinggeneratedcodeforcorrectness,safety,andmaintainability.
RequiredQualifications
- Bachelor’sdegreeinComputerEngineering,ElectricalEngineering,ComputerScience,orarelatedtechnicaldiscipline.
- ExperienceprogramminginRust,C,orC++,throughprofessionalwork,internships,coursework,research,orpersonalprojects.
- Understandingofembeddedsystemsandbasicelectricalengineeringconcepts.
- Abilitytoreadelectricalschematicsandtroubleshoothardware/softwareinterfaces.
- FamiliaritywithcommonembeddedinterfacesorprotocolssuchasEthernet,I2C,UART/RS-232/422,orsimilar.
- Strongproblem-solvingskillsandinterestinhands-onhardware/softwaredevelopment.
- AbilitytoobtainandmaintainaU.S.securityclearance.

Experienceinoneormoreofthefollowingishelpful:
- STM32orotherARM-basedmicrocontrollers.
- EmbeddedRustorC/C++firmwaredevelopment.
- Ethernet,UDP/TCP,EtherCAT,orotherreal-timecommunications.
- Motorcontrol,servosystems,sensors,orFPGAinterfaces.
