Legal Assistant

Well established and growing healthcare defense firm has an immediate opening for a full-time Legal Assistant to support the essential daily functions critical to the firm’s success. This is a full-time, in-office position in Southfield, Michigan.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of litigation defense experience, preferably in medical malpractice. The firm is also open to training a highly-motivated individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic, a proactive approach, and a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities:

• Day to day support of attorneys.
• Review and docketing of daily mail.
• Managing attorney calendaring, including scheduling of attorney conferences, depositions, meetings.
• Preparation of legal pleadings.
• Filing of documents with all courts.
• Answering of Firm telephone calls.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of Legal-law firm experience preferred.
• Immense attention to detail.
• Disciplined with ability to work independently.
• Well versed in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word.
• Strong organization and analytical skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize workload effectively.
• Professional demeanor and customer service skills.
• Understanding of the importance of maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in the legal profession.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting attorneys and other colleagues.
