Job Overview

The Project Engineer (PE) plans, designs and implements manufacturing processes to improve efficiency during the product development phase and the transition into the production phase.

Responsibilities and Duties Required:

  • Assureandverifycompliance ofmanufacturing methodsasdefinedoncustomerdrawings, specifications, andpurchase orderrequirements.
  • Createand manage allrequiredBills ofMaterial insupportof assignedproduct.
  • Createsupplychainflowdownrequirements.
  • Collaboratewithothermanagementpersonnel todevelopand maintainnewproducts anddesignchangemilestones.
  • Submittooling andprogramrequests toappropriate manufacturingengineerswithconcepts.
  • Createmanufacturing router processesonassigned projects.
  • Createalltimestandardsonrouters and verify they meet our quote.
  • Reviewandapproveall fixturedesigns andCNC programs.
  • Prepare andleadeffortspertainingtocustomer product reviews toincludeProductionReadinessReviewswhenapplicable.
  • Reviewanddisposition product repairs, reworks, andMRB’s.
  • Investigateandoverseerootcauseandcorrectiveactions onassignedprograms.
  • Ensurecompletenessofmilestoneplansandverifytasksforassignedproductsarecompleted accordingly.
  • Leadeffortspertainingtocustomer escape utilizing all otherengineeringmembers toensure accurate datais quicklyavailableforreviewbythequalitymanager.
  • Reviewmanufacturingcost datatoensure that theright plansarein placetomeet thecost goalsforassignedproducts.
  • Responsibletoensure Phase3andPhase4tasks arecompletedandapprovalsareobtainedforassignedproducts.
  • Supportsmanufacturing estimatoronall quotesforexisting assignprograms.
  • Recommendsafety&ergonomic improvements inourmaterial handling devices,manufacturing tools,andworkstationstoaccommodatebest practicesforshopfloor personnel.
  • Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required..
  • Otherdutiesmaybeassigned,as necessary.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor degreeinengineeringorrelated technicalfield.
  • Minimum of10years of experienceinmanufacturing and/orcostestimating.
  • Must have the ability to research, understand, and implement innovative technologies to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, geometric tolerances, and specifications.
  • Musthaveworking knowledgeoftheCAD/CAM systemuse,shop mathematics,sheetmetalfabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, andcoatings.
  • Mustbeproficient using Microsoft Office products.
  • Capable ofmentoring employees.
  • Must be a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Demonstratesgoodwrittenandverbal communicationskills.
  • Abilitytowork independentlyandonateam.
  • Abilitytowork onmultipletaskssimultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.

Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks.
  • May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
  • May work in close proximity to others.

Visual Acuity:

  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
  • Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read computer screen and documents.

Hearing Ability:

  • Normal hearing or corrected to normal.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.

  • Factory environment.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours.
  • Highnoiselevels from operatingmachines.
  • Physicalhazardsfrom movingequipment and machineparts.
  • Breathingfumes, dust, and mist.
  • Skin exposureto chemicals associated with manufacturing.
