About This Role

Oversee the preparation, presentation, and quality of food items, ensuring they meet high standards. Responsibilities include menu planning, supply ordering, and record-keeping.



What You'll Do

  • Verify the quality of raw or cooked ingredients to guarantee consistency.
  • Maintain impeccable sanitation practices to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assess the quantity and quality of incoming products to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Procure essential supplies, ingredients, and equipment to sustain smooth operations.
  • Lead or coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen staff in the food preparation process.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies to guarantee adherence to established standards.
  • Curate visually appealing food displays and presentations.
  • Train and instruct cooks and other staff members on food preparation, cooking, and presentation techniques.
  • Estimate supply needs and calculate costs of ingredients and supplies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and develop menus and recipes, considering seasonal ingredient availability and customer preferences.
  • Analyze recipes to determine optimal pricing for menu items, based on food, labor, and operational costs.
  • Cook a variety of dishes, either regularly or for special occasions.
  • Determine production schedules and staff requirements to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Recruit and hire kitchen staff, including cooks and other kitchen workers.
  • Meet with clients to discuss customized menu options for special events, such as weddings, parties, or banquets.
  • Introduce new cooking techniques or equipment to the staff.
  • Negotiate with sales representatives to secure the best prices and order supplies.
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Record operational data on designated forms.
  • Direct and oversee food preparation and cooking activities across multiple kitchens or restaurants in a large establishment, such as a restaurant chain, hospital, or hotel.
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting, and purchasing for all food operations within establishments like clubs, hotels, or restaurant chains.
